Edmund (Ted) Harvey Yabsley

I am seeking information about the fishing vessels and their crews that were commandeered by the American Army Small Ships Section during WW11. I would welcome any information that may reveal my fathers movements during his time in Eden. It is very difficult to access any information from anywhere regarding the Australian men and their boats, as both the Australian and American Armed Forces did not recognise their contribution to the war effort until only recently as they were employed on civilian contracts and so not too many records have been kept.

I am hoping that you may be able to tell me if there are any records in Eden that would list the fishing vessels and their crews that were commandeered by the American Army Small Ships section during WW11. My late father Edmund Harvey Yabsley(Ted) was working on a trawler out of Eden in 1942 when it was taken over by the American Army and sent to New Guinea. I need this information in order to request my fathers war service records from the American army. I have been advised that without this information they would be unable to find his records.

Charles Yabsley.
