Art Classes coming to Nethercote Hall in 2010
01 Feb 2010 - 01 Mar 2010
ART FOR SCAREDY CATS
Have you always wanted to try your hand at drawing and painting but been too intimidated or scared? Are you willing to commit to an introductory basic drawing course for 4 weeks with a teacher who guarantees he can teach anyone to draw?
Then don't miss this fabulous opportunity coming to the Nethercote Hall shortly. Expressions of interest are now being taken for a beginners' art class, commencing early 2010.
Clive Cocum won his first art prize when he was 10 years old. His prize was a bicycle and he has now been painting and exhibiting for over 50 years. He studied under many famous artists and during the 1980s set up and ran the largest private art school in Geelong, with over 100 students. He conducted graduate and post-graduate master classes and co-founded other arts groups in Australia and Europe. Clive has designed theatre sets for the Melbourne Shakespearean Company and the Tasmanian Arts Council, been involved in the painting of public murals and assisted in designing a prize-winning float for the Moomba Festival. His work has been exhibited extensively, both in Australia and Internationally and is held in private collections worldwide, including the F.H. Faulding Collection of Australian Art in New York and London.
Clive moved to Nethercote in 1994 to live and paint and has also taught through TAFE at Cooma and Bombala.
Clive has been a supporter of the Nethercote Hall restoration project over the years. Now that the hall is available for hire he has kindly offered to further support it through holding art classes there.
Cost of the initial 4week course of 2 ½ hours per class (total 10 hours instruction) will be $100. It will run during the daytime on whichever day suits most people. Class size will be limited to 15 students. Following this initial block, the course will continue onto other areas such as colour mixing, painting and other topics students may wish to pursue. Morning tea will be provided (including quality coffee!)
Clive is happy for prospective students to ring him for a chat and/or visit his studio before committing (6495 7420).
